15 Straight Months Of Economic Growth...
House Speaker Dennis Hastert noted some very important fact about the economic data released today:
The economy has posted steady job gains for each of the last fifteen months -- creating over 2.4 million jobs since August of 2003 when the tax relief package signed into law by President Bush took effect. The drop in unemployment from its highest point in June of 2003 is lower than the average of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.The unemployment rate dropped through all regions of the country with 47 out of 50 states adding more jobs to their payrolls. Employment in the construction, financial services, educational and health services is at an all time high.
The household survey showed a larger gain of over 2.9 million jobs in November.
Hastert said, "With another month of job creation and a lower unemployment rate, it goes to show Republican tax relief is moving America forward ... We still have more work to do in the next Congress to reform our archaic and over-encumbered tax code ... The bottom line is no one should be playing Scrooge this holiday season; American taxpayers deserve to keep more of what they earn."
